The Snow Angel

The Snow Angel

The woman in the picture was so young she looked like a child. Her hair was loose, eyes wide, blue T-shirt stark against the pale lines of arching collarbones. I felt the air leave me in a quiet rush. Not because of the way the photo captured her fle

Guardian Angels – Do We All Have Guardian Angels

Plight of the Guardian Angel

These are compelling questions, and for answers, we can begin looking at both the stories of Jesus and the Prophet Mohammed. We can read about them in the Bible, the Koran, the writings from Babylon, Ur, ancient Persia, the ancient (and modern) Greece, Egypt and even India and China.

In so many societies and cultures (and many without cultural contact) Angels seem to play the role of messengers of God (or the Gods), and their purposes are as varied as are the tasks required.

They heal and teach (as in Tobias, and take on human form), they destroy (as in Sodom), the expel (as in Eden), they console and strengthen (as in Garden of Gethsemane), they foretell and explain (as in Daniel), they reveal (as in the Koran), and much more.

All the above is from ancient times, and writings of our ancestors, but how about today?

Without much effort, we all know stories of the improbable and even impossible with our friends, family and in the news. Is all this just co-incidence or the intervention of some divine power (Angels for example)?

Even a reading of the Arabian Nights offers direct answers to the above question. This is something that is not yet proved by modern scientific evidence, but on the other hand, there is universal acceptance of Angelic existence.

This itself can be offered as evidence. A Time magazine survey found out that 69% of people questioned believed in Angels. (more…)

If Ever There Was a Time for the Intercession of Angels…

The Annunciation by El Greco

Image via Wikipedia

Anyone who has lived for any length of time has experienced a change of times. This is most apparent if you live anywhere that the seasons prevail. You see spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Each season has its advantages and sometimes its troubles. The Native Americans counted their summers to determine their age.  Children are generally immune to a change of times.

Most of us recognize that a Recession or a Depression spells widespread trouble.  So does drought and famine, flood and any other natural disaster.

All of these are well beyond the influence of the individual when it comes to changing or fixing. That is another way of saying; no single person can change the course of these kinds of problems.

Occasionally, we can move away from these troubles and sometimes we can’t (where can you go when the problem is worldwide? What angle is available?).

Sometimes the problem is so personal that the solution can’t be found through ordinary means.  “Who you gonna call?  1 800 My ANGEL?”  What are you going to do when a real live angel shows up? (more…)

Believe in Angels and Miracles From God

Song of the Angels (1881)

Image via Wikipedia

Miracles exist in part as God’s gifts and in part as God’s clues. Gifts and clues that there is something beyond this world we see.

Angels exist as eternal servants to God and Christ (Psalm 103:20). These holy angels surround the throne of God and are involved at God’s bidding in the affairs of men.

“We believe that angels exist as the ministering agents of God, while Satan and his demons exist to hinder and corrupt the work of God on this earth.” (Hebrews. 1:13, 14; 2 Corinthians. 4:3, 4.)

All changes are miracles to contemplate and there are miracles taking place every second. For the truly faithful, no miracle is really necessary, and people who doubt, no miracle is sufficient.

Long before Christianity there were miracles and angels. Do not only believe in miracles, and out of life’s difficulties grow miracles; depend on miracles and believe in angels. (more…)
